What is your Intention?

Hi everybody.

Did you have a good Christmas/enjoyable holidays? It’s back to the grindstone now, that’s why doing something you love everyday is so important. You don’t get that Sunday evening feeling. There have been so many Sunday evenings in my life where I was just dreading the next day.

Well, no more! I am writing and coaching now.

That sounds wonderful when I actually write it down. A good portion of my day is spent writing and coaching. I feel like my life has come full circle. I used to dream of being a writer when I was in high school. I always dismissed it though because writing wasn’t for people like me. It was for well-off people or people who had writers in their family.

I couldn’t possibly be a writer.

love for writing
What is your passion?

I was wrong. I realise now that I limited myself by those thoughts. I’m not going to do that anymore.

To quote one of my favourite ladies in the world, Oprah Winfrey put it very nicely when she said:

What I know for sure is that whatever your situation is right now, you have played a major role in setting it up. It is you who have created your circumstances. With every experience, you alone are painting your own canvas, thought by thought, choice by choice. And beneath each of those thoughts and choices lies your deepest intention. If you are feeling stuck in your life and want to move forward, start by examining your past motivations.

This was a serious learning curve for me when I got to understand, I mean fully understand, the power of intention. I had heard her speak about intention a lot, as I watch her a lot! But it seemed to just roll off me. Until one of her talks explained really well, exactly what she understood to be so powerful about the whole notion of intention. Here she explains:

Intention is at the heart of creating authentic power…I used to have the disease to please and intention cured me. My disease to please was always about wanting people to think I was a certain way…when I said no to something I didn’t want to do, the world did not fall apart and the person I said no to did not hate me afterwards. Because of that, I got the courage to say no again and again…”

She explained it powerfully another time also that really struck me. She explained that if two ladies put money in the plate at church on Sunday and one is doing it because she wishes to serve the community. She is giving money for the benefit of the community. The other one is giving money because it is expected of her and she somewhat resents having to give her money away. The energy that comes back to those two ladies will be different.

That kind of blew me away.

So, there’s an intention behind every action you take in your life. Whatever that intention is, whatever your motivation is, is exactly what will come back to you through the universe. The universe reflects your intention back to you. So, make sure your intention is right on track because it’s coming back to you!

The intention is at one with cause and effect. The intention is the cause and it will ultimately affect the outcome of any action. Intention cannot be separated from the cause. Even if you don’t know what your intention is, it still affects the outcome and it still comes back to you.

So how do we get our intention right? Before anything that you plan to do, think about WHY you are doing it. How do you plan to serve with this action? If you can answer this question, you are getting close to understanding what your intention is…

How beautiful is that???
